The decision to walk through the door of the counseling office is a sign of taking charge of your health, not weakness. As a person who has walked through that door myself, I know the strength it takes to become vulnerable and ask someone for help.
I have been a counselor since 1985! I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois to provide clinical, professional and confidential counseling services. I am not able to prescribe medications, but work closely with physicians if part of a client's treatment requires medication. I have had the opportunity to work in many settings, which has given me experience in several areas: children, adolescents, adults, anxiety,LGBTQIA challenges, anger management, substance abuse, disabled veterans, childhood mental disorders, obesity issues, school problems, parenting issues, children with special needs (ADHD, autism spectrum), career decisions, decisions about relationships.
In my private practice, I work with children from age 5 to adults. I also spend time as a school counselor. In my practice I see and enjoy working with people of all ages.
I am a big believer in lifestyle choices and changes as vital to your counseling success.
Come in and let's talk.
My approach is focused on these things:
What issues are causing your concerns?
What thoughts could be causing your issues?
What lifestyle choices are you making that need to be considered?
What interventions will work for you?
What is your dedication to making the changes?
I take a holistic/multi-intervention approach to identifying and working through issues. Some of these interventions include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), supportive psychotherapy, mindfulness and mind-body approach to wellness.
I love my job. I love giving people hope, solutions and tools to work through tough times and to find their happiness.
